Cello Fest Kicks off with an exciting evening of multi-genre cellos! Jake Sokolov, James Perretta, Flannery Brown, Prior Panic, Rob Bethel perform sets of folk music, alternative songs, experimental music, improvised music, and music for viola da gamba! Additionally a trio of Isabel Castellvi, Kamyron Williams, and Zan Berry will premiere a groovy new cello trio by local composer Tom Swafford!

Cello Fest welcomes its special guest, Kely Pinheiro! The day will start with a workshop open to string players of all levels, Brazilian Rhythms and Techniques for Strings. There will be sets by Ted Mook, Adrienne Taylor, Isabel Castellvi, Laura Cetilia, and Kari Juusela and Sidy Maiga. We will also have our annual old-time jam session with local folk musicians and our performance of Terry Riley's minimalist classic, In C!

Cello Fest concludes with a night of traditional and original Brazilian music featuring our headliner, Kely Pinheiro! Kely will do a solo set of music for cello and voice and she will be joined by a cello ensemble, playing a range of Brazilian music including a performance of Bachianas Brasileiras no. 5 for 8 Cellos and Soprano.
